“Youth Sexual Awareness For Europe” (YSAFE) is a youth network on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. It is a project of the IPPF European Network geared at empowering youth participation in decision making and implementation at both the Member Association and Regional levels.

What makes YSAFE distinct from other youth networks?

Firstly the particular link through the Member Associations of the IPPF European Network all working in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. This means a greater geographical reach and diversity in the focus on topics (for example focus on: peer education, outreach to different vulnerable groups, media, advocacy and so on).

Secondly the objectives of YSAFE are internally focused on improving the capacity of young people and providing opportunities for young people to increase their participation in the IPPF European Network.

Before YSAFE, there was no ongoing systematic way for networking amongst young people, both staff and volunteers, who are involved in the work of their Member Associations. Young people who did not attend regional events had no opportunities to interact directly with other young people who are part of the IPPF European Network.

YSAFE empowers young people to participate in decision making and implementation at all levels of the IPPF European Network through a strong and active regional youth network by involving them at local and international level.

We wish to achieve this through the following objectives:

To improve the exchange of skills, information and experiences between youth volunteers in the IPPF European Network

To increase the opportunities for young people to work together on regional projects and initiatives

To strengthen youth participation in IPPF European Network at both the Member Association and Regional Office level

The YSAFE network is led by five members of the Steering Committee, who are elected by YSAFE members at the YSAFE annual meeting. They have voting rights at the IPPF European Network Regional Council.

Members of the Steering Committee are:
