20th to 24th of march – IPPF offices in Brussels
On Sunday the 19th of march we, Camille from Le Planning Familial and Janne from The Danish Family Planning Association arrived to Brussels to spend the week to take part in the YSAFE Advocacy Capacity Building Project Training. During the training week, we shared and exchanged ideas with other enthusiastic young SRHR activists from member associations of YSAFE and IPPF all around Europe and Central Asia.
Advocacy was the red thread throughout the whole week – and we saw implementation of it at the FEMM committee in the European parliament and had workshops with Marija Pantelic on how to do our own advocacy and how to contact stakeholders in our separate countries.
We learned how to reframe our messages and values, so they can be perceived how we want them to by our target groups. – And we also realized that we don’t want to use too much time on convincing our opponents!
These and many more workshops, presentations and experiences made us ready to go for our own advocacy projects back home. The frame set by IPPFEN and YSAFE made the experience amazing, as everyone felt safe and happy, and check-ins and outs were done every day of the training.
In conclusion, to meet people from different countries was a great way to understand the different priorities about SRHR. We cannot wait to see what our fellow SRHR activist will change in their countries!
